Powerpack Activation Issues
This page relates to Alfred 4 and earlier. If you're using Alfred 5, please take a look at the Alfred 5 Powerpack Activation Troubleshooting page.
To activate your Powerpack license, ensure that you're using the latest version of Alfred. Go to the Powerpack tab, and paste in your email address and license code.
Having issues activating? Take a look at the license troubleshooting steps or jump to the specific error message you're seeing for details.
1. Enter the correct license details
To activate your Alfred 4 license, the details entered need to match exactly the details in your license email.
- Are you using the same email address you used to register and is it correctly spelled?
- Did you copy the entire license code, including the first and last characters?
- If you've upgraded your license, are you using your most recent license key, and not your license from an earlier version of Alfred?
Take a look at the Powerpack FAQ if you're not sure whether you have a current license.
2. Check you're on the latest version
Under the "Update" tab, check that you're using the latest version of Alfred.
You should "v4.x.x" in the top left corner, where x.x will be replaced by the most current version. If you're using Alfred 4 but the Update tab shows a newer version, please update to it.
If you're using an older version (e.g. v3, v2, v1 or the Mac App Store version), go to alfredapp.com, download and install the free version of Alfred 4. You'll then be able to go to the Powerpack tab to activate your license.
3. Check the specific activation error messages
Take a look at the specific activation error messages list below to troubleshoot the exact error message you're seeing.
4. Contacting us for license support

Alfred has identified your license as an Alfred 3 or 2 license. Pop by the Powerpack upgrade page to get a current license code.
- If you purchased your license in 2019 or are a Mega Supporter, your upgrade will be free and a new license will be issued
- If you purchased a Single or Family license prior to 2019, you'll be eligible for a discounted upgrade to Alfred 4
"License code not valid for Alfred 4. Click the 'Upgrade' button to visit alfredapp.com to see your options."
Alfred hasn't recognised your license, so pop by the Upgrade page to see whether your license can be upgraded.
"License code not valid for Alfred 4. Ensure that you have correctly entered the registered email address and all 4 lines of your license code."
Check the email containing your most current license details. Ensure you've entered the correct email and license details, and check that you've spelled your email address correctly.
"Unable to obtain activation data from server, make sure that you are connected to the internet."
Alfred shows this error message if it's unable to connect to our server to activate your Powerpack.
First, ensure that you're using the latest version of Alfred from our website.
If you're on a network that limits access to our server, like some corporate networks or coffee shops, you may need to try from a different internet connection. Also, if you use apps like Little Snitch that restrict your internet traffic, please allow Alfred to connect, at least temporarily, but ideally permanently to allow for future updates.
"This is an Alfred 2 Corporate license code. Please contact your license administrator."
Alfred 2 Corporate licenses are no longer valid, and all corporate license users should ensure they're using the current Alfred corporate license. Your license administrator will be able to provide you with the latest license code.
"Invalid Corporate license code. Please contact your license administrator."
Contact your license administrator to ensure you're using the correct details.
"Corporate license over activation limit."
Contact your license administrator, as your team's license has run out of available activations. Your license administrator can contact us to top up your team's license.
